One of Russia's most sought-after ensembles, musicAeterna continuously expands the boundaries of its artistic endeavors in the fields of early music in historically informed performance, academic classical repertoire, and contemporary music.
The orchestra and choir were founded by conductor Teodor Currentzis in 2004 in Novosibirsk. From 2011 to 2019, they were part of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre company. In 2019, the Saint Petersburg House of Radio became musicAeterna's creative residence.
Together with Teodor Currentzis, musicAeterna regularly tours Russia and the world, participating in international festivals such as the Ruhrtriennale, Klarafestival in Brussels, the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, "Diaghilev P. S." in Saint Petersburg, and the Diaghilev Festival in Perm. In 2017, musicAeterna became the first Russian ensemble to open the main program of the Salzburg Festival. In 2018, the musicAeterna choir received the International Opera Award, as well as the Russian Casta Diva and Golden Mask awards.
The recordings of Mozart, Mahler, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Rameau, and Stravinsky released by musicAeterna and Teodor Currentzis on the Sony Classical label have been highly praised by music critics and have received prestigious honors: ECHO KLASSIK, Edison Klassiek, the Japan Academy of Recording Prize, and the BBC Music Magazine Award.
